Darryl Dawkins was born on January 11, 1957 in Orlando, Florida. He made being drafted out of high school cool when in 1975 he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers 5th overall. He quickly became a fan favorite for his earth shattering, backboard breaking dunks, which he named.

Perhaps the best thing Dawkins is remembered for is the greatest nickname in sports history:
Chocolate Thunder
That is until you remember this:
Darryl claimed to be an alien from planet Lovetron where he spent off-season practicing "interplanetary funkmanship" and where his girlfriend Juicy Lucy still lived.

Darryl Dawkins is the author of Chocolate Thunder: The Uncensored Life and Times of Darryl Dawkins (co-authored with Charley Rosen) and is currently the coach of the Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs of the United States Basketball League.
